I am awakened at 5:30 am by a quiet knock on my door. Wakeup call. Much nicer than the phone. We leave at 6am for a 3 hr safari. I'm so excited. It is still dark as we enter the Chobe National Park. We drive in Jeeps and search for wildlife and are fortunate to not be disappointed. There are warthogs and antelope but they are as plentiful as dogs and cats in the US. We see two sightings of giraffe. Those beautiful and graceful animals. Then we came upon an unusual find, lions. One male and two females just resting in the sun. The jeeps in this park are like bumper car, crisscrossing and passing each other all trying to get the best view for their passengers. They radio back and forth about animal spottings and then we are off like a flash. Our group came upon a fresh Kudu (large antelope type) kill with the male lion and two females nearby. As we left the park an elephant and water buffalo crossed the road in front of us. It is all surreal and wonderful. I wish the pictures would go through.
